    Membership Appreciation Luncheon.  Join us for a delicious Soup and Salad luncheon and a great program by Bruce Larson of IDES.  Invitations have been sent.  If you have not received yours, contact us at rrhrpa@gmail.com and we'll see that you receive one.

    Bruce will present information about SIDES, Career Information Systems and Labor Market Information, a brief overview of changes at IDES that might affect HR and their companies, and hold a Q&A about UI Adjudication.

    Speaker Biography

    Bruce Larson is the Sterling Local Office Manager of the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Currently the Sterling office has, as its areas of responsibility, Jo Daviess, Carroll, Stephenson, Ogle, Lee, Whiteside Counties.

    He has been assigned to this position since December 1, 2004 with the promotion from the Sterling Field Office Supervisor becoming permanently effective March 1, 2005. Prior to the promotion to Field Office Supervisor on April 1, 2002, Bruce had worked for the Illinois Department of Employment Security as an Employment Service Program Representative for approximately ten and half years.

    Bruce has been a board member of the Northwest Illinois Workforce Investment Board serving Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Carroll, Whiteside and Ogle Counties for ten years and had served as a Strategic Technical Assistance Team Lead person of the Illinois Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act transition team for Northwest Illinois.

    He has also been a school board member of the Meridian Community Unit School District #223 in Ogle County for 12 years; serving two years each as vice-president and president of the school board.

    Before his employment with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Bruce had been employed as a construction manager for a civil engineering firm based in Madison, WI and as a shop foreman for a components and millwork plant in northern Illinois.

    He is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he last served as an officer and pilot in both the U.S. Army Cavalry and U.S. Army Air Cavalry.

    Bruce holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Geography, with emphasis in Area Studies and Economic Geography from Northern Illinois University.
