Navigating Cancer in the Workplace

Bio

Katy Yoder recently joined Hope Cancer Wellness Center after relocating from Florida to her home state of Illinois.  She has 20 years of combined experience in coaching and advising, including design, development, and implementation of programs in corporate, non-profit, and academic environments.  Katy is passionate about serving individuals, helping them find their calling, and empowering and leading others as an encourager for all ages.

Summary

This seminar will provide attendees with insights on creating company-wide policies and individualized work plans that are fair to employees with cancer and the organization. We will cover the law and accommodations for employees with cancer, create procedures and processes to make the workplace more supportive and inclusive, and provide a step-by-step guide for making a plan with the employees affected by cancer. We will also provide strategies for helping employees manage treatment symptoms and recommendations for responding sensitively and managing the impact of workplace accommodations on other employees. By the end of the seminar, participants will clearly understand how to create a supportive and inclusive workplace culture in the event that an employee is impacted by cancer.
